Appointments can be made by telephone (01900 603985) between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday or by calling in to the surgery and booking an appointment at reception (after 8:30).
Our urgent on the day appointments are provided in our Primary Care Services in the Workington Community Hospital. This services is ran by Workington GPs for Workington patients. Appointments are available from 08:00 to 20:00 Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 16:00 on Saturday and Sunday.

If you need an urgent appointment on Saturday or Sunday, please ring the Primary Care Centre on 01900 705039 or contact NHS 111.
Routine surgery appointments can be made by phoning the practice or online.
Let us know if more than one person in the family needs to be seen. We can give you longer appointment if necessary.
Inform us if you want someone to accompany you, a chaperone, during an examination.
If you require a private room to discuss any matters please inform Reception.
Remember that the results of tests can only be given to the patient.
We have now changed to Emis clinical system. We are in the process of sending out new registration documents for existing online users. You will need new registration and pin codes which will be sent out to you for your new online account.
To register for the new online services please use the EMIS website. The online service allows you to make and cancel appointments, order prescriptions and view your medical records.
Receptionists are on duty to take requests for appointments, visits, repeat prescriptions and general enquiries during the following hours:

Our patients have access to out of hour’s appointments at Workington Primary Care Centre within Workington Hospital each Saturday. Please book your appointments through Orchard House Surgery reception.
On the day requests for urgent appointments
If you require an on the day appointment, we have been fortunate to receive funding from the Prime Ministers Challenge fund to fund an on the day service for all 5 practices’ in Workington Community Hospital, which is staffed by GP’s and Nurse Practitioners. Ring our practice number and if you require an on the day appointment, our receptionists will book you an appointment at the Workington Primary Care Centre within Workington Community Hospital
Specialist and Hospital Care
If a GP or another member of our health care team believes you need hospital treatment or specialist care elsewhere, you will be asked where and when you would like to go. You will be given a choice of hospital to attend, and a leaflet explaining your options. Some appointment’s can now be booked electronically directly from within practice, so you can find out your hospital appointment date and time without delay. This service is called “Choose & Book”.
Protected Learning Time For Staff Development 2019 & 2020
CHOC Cover from 13.00 hrs until evening shift with NO requirement for GPs to return to practice to provide cover from 5pm unless Extended Access is planned.
